I hesitated a lot with Black One, which is my favourite, but this record is key because it’s the most open Sunn O))) record, with references that helped me get into their world. I felt links to Arvo Pärt, Alice Coltrane or Miles Davis… What I like is how they manage to integrate these distant worlds into their pretty monolithic sound, while avoiding any baroque mess, symphonic metal style. I came across this one when it was released in 2009, and it opened me to extreme metal through its most heavy, doomy side.
