He’s a real guitar hero, something I never was and by the end never wanted to be. I was probably hoping to become a guitar hero when I saw Jeff Beck with Rod Stewart playing at the Marquee in London in 1967. My band, Spirits Of Sound and I had gone to London, my mother had to give me a note allowing me to travel as a minor. I remember standing in the audience and seeing these two guys on stage, and a few years ago in 2010 I saw Jeff Beck again when I played in Buenos Aires. I was very much impressed. I stayed for a week after my concert so I was able to see Jeff Beck play there.I was maybe not blown away by everything but it’s very impressive, his control of volume and dynamics. The guitar was super, super loud. ‘Truth’ was a music that, when we moved into the direction of psychedelic music that started with Jimi Hendrix and Cream, it fascinated me before I stopped listening and moved away from all those heroes.
