Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

12. Nina SimoneThe Great Show Of Nina Simone: Live in Paris

I love everything that Nina did, pretty much, like everyone, but I used to listen to Nina Simone when she was maybe not as well known. Her career had really gone up and down. She was very popular when she was making her records but then in the 90s she was less knows and then of course she gained huge celebrity again.

This was a record that Rufus got me for Christmas in 1997 or something. It just shows her ability, you know, her incredible ability, really her playing at the same time as she is singing and the difference between what she is doing with her hands and what she is doing with her voice and what she was able to create. It had a nice mix of different songs on it so it is quite a different record I think.
