Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. BroadcastTender Buttons

In 2005 I was living in New York, I was cool by then! Someone must have given me the record, I don’t remember how but I definitely had it around, maybe I got into it after it came out, it took a while. It pops up in a lot of my favourite album lists now, it’s very unique sounding. I love the warbly, slightly out of tune synthesizers, the texture of the vocals, the way it’s mic’ed. Even the sound of it and the way it was recorded is very unique to me. It’s hard to put into words what I love about this record.

I struggle to talk about art, I’m bad at Twitter but great at Instagram, I’m a visual person and I feel things very deeply. Every song on this album is so catchy and beautiful and carefully wrought.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Carla Dal Forno, Nite Jewel, Teenage Fanclub, ,
