Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

7. NicoThe End…

This is the record that has the biggest connection to who I am. It’s the record that made me want to pursue music as a career seriously. The first time I heard it, once again, it was so inspiring for me. I was really young when I first heard it and it made me understand some things about myself. The lyricism and production is amazing. It’s produced by John Cale and Brian Eno so it’s like a supergroup for me. I think Nico is a great poet and I really like her lyrics. I love her voice. It’s quite a strange and deep voice. It really spoke to me when I first discovered it. I like everything Nico did but I like her solo stuff more outside of her work with Velvet Underground.
