Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

3. Chris & CoseyExotica

This was another one I discovered at my first serious boyfriend’s house. I love Throbbing Gristle, but I’m particularly a fan of Chris & Cosey. What they did was very important for me, it was a major influence. I don’t listen to it too much now but in my late teens and in my twenties, it was very big for me. This was the project that made me want to buy a drum machine. I was already making music at that point but this pushed me in that direction of pursuing electronic music, but I got into electronic music first through disco. This album gave me the hint that I was into sequencers and making electronic music.
