Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. Cherie Currie, Tom O’NeillNeon Angel: A Memoir Of A Runaway

I’m a Runaways fan. Cherie Currie really tells it how it is. Her life was extremely dark, but what’s nice is that she managed to pull herself out of it. She became a drug counsellor for teenagers and now she has a beautiful life. But she went through some of the darkest stuff ever, so much abuse on so many levels. I saw the film adaptation with Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie and Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett. I think both ladies endorsed it, even though the scenario was a bit Hollywood. But I saw the film after reading the book. I’m always reading first.
