Lana Del Rey posted this book on Instagram and I was intrigued. I went to a bookstore in Montreal and jumped on their last copy and it changed my life. I really needed that book at that moment because I was really struggling with connecting with my femininity. She’s a storyteller. Every chapter is based on a well-known tale: some are European, some are South American, some are Eastern European, classics, old fables. You come across ideas we’ve all been acquainted with and she dissects them and explains the psychological meanings. I read it in 2020 when I wasn’t doing well and it helped me a lot. I had a lot of issues with control and it was harming my body. I had chronic inflammation and health problems. I was really struggling and couldn’t see the end of it for a few years, but it exacerbated in the pandemic, maybe because of isolation and having too much time on my own.
