Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

Speaking of romance, here’s one of my own. Not my own record. I mean, c’mon, J.G. Thirlwell is a genius who stands alone in his own category and of course Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson took up the torch and ran with it. Brilliant, funny, twisted and probably so far ahead of its time it broke the calendar. ‘Throne Of Agony’, you have to love, but ‘Anything’. When I play kids in their 20s ‘Anything’ they just don’t… believe it. If I’m getting too grumpy, I gotta play that song. It’s hilarious, immense, grandiose, complicated, well all things we are. It’s just a kaleidoscope of music. Everything he does is still great but Nail for some reason just did it for me.
