9. ScarfaceMy Homies
I love this album. He produced this double album and I love Scarface at his best psychotic-cheap-beat-down-low-dirty… the threat, the insanity of it. “You can take a whigger out of the ghetto but you can’t take the ghetto out of this muthafuckin’ whigger.” Because when Scarface took me to his hood in Houston – I interviewed him once, they never printed it, Spin magazine, that was fine, I got to meet Scarface – 30 second after we got into his Lexus, he pulls out his gun and says, “We’re being followed, don’t turn around!” Here we go again! I told him not to touch my tape recorder because I was having electrical disturbances. I was like: “DO NOT TOUCH MY TAPE RECORDER!” He touched it, the fuckin’ thing died. I was like: “I TOLD YOU NOT TO TOUCH IT!” So I did most of the interview using quotes from his lyrics which I love. We went to his ‘hood’. The hood I grew up in was way more hardcore than that, I kinda laughed. He was surrounded by 10-year-olds, signing autographs. My Homies. DIRTY! Down! Threatening. I can’t tell ya how many men have been scared out of my bedroom when I put that one on.
