Bunny Wailer – Blackheart Man
Bunny Wailer was in the Wailers, of course. He did a few solo albums.
Peter Tosh’s records are great too, Equal Rights in particular – and
Burning Spear, Heart of the Congos, they are all great. But Bunny Wailer is the most sunny and flowery. You just have to listen. It’s
life-affirming, uplifting, positive. One of the things I like about
reggae is the way they so effortlessly start talking about God. I
think in most Western music, we’re cowards, we’re still under this
cloud that rock & roll and religion have to be separate. But in
reggae there’s this freedom and oneness about music and God, which to
me is inspiring and sort of puts me to shame too.
