Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

6. Jeff BuckleyGrace

JH: This has been a big influence for me, songwriting-wise. I think he was a really amazing songwriter. That album, lyrically was so inspirational to me, and it’s so well thought out. I think you can hear the influence of some of the guitars on our music. It’s a record I always go back to, it’s so amazing. I didn’t hear it for the first time too long ago, I didn’t really grow up with it – although my sister played me a few songs from it when I was growing up. I first heard it in full when I was 16, and while I didn’t fully get it when I was younger, it really clicked for me then. ‘Lover You Should’ve Come Over’ is such an amazing song, it’s so well written.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Arooj Aftab, Mark Radcliffe, Charlotte Church, Morrissey
