His music is very serene, celestial and stars-based. I’ve played his music over the years, since the early 1980s when he started out, the occasional track here and there. I find it very easy to listen to over long stretches of time. I didn’t realise this but he’s a pilot – a search-and rescue pilot who actually flies for the Civil Air Patrol. I guess that accounts for the aerial point of view in his music. And The Stars Go With You pays tribute to the astronaut victims of the first space shuttle disaster in 1986.
I guess space plays its own role in my own music in a literal sense of extra-spaciousness. the realisation through meditation of a space that’s more present and more all-pervading than the third dimension- a heightened awareness of a subtle and serene spaciousness right here in our midst. Spaciousness is represented in my music in reverb and delay.
