Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

6. Mike OldfieldOmmadawn

This and Tubular Bells are two of my favourite albums. I think Ommadawn has a slight edge for me now. I tend to listen to that more than Tubular Bells. I just love Mike Oldfield, I love his melodies. I love his attention to the more unusual instruments and his use of brass and wind as well as how the guitars merge it all together. It’s very spiritual music, very ‘world’ music. It’s head-in-the-stars kind of music.
