9. This Will Destroy YouThis Will Destroy You
This is a great debut from This Will Destroy You who, while still conforming to post-rock’s philosophy of loud/quiet dynamics and instrumental ambient epics, add electronic elements like beats. It’s a really amazing journey, and live they’re really intense. One of the guitarists sit down throughout the show, but completely destroys any sense of calm with this disturbing intensity to his performance. I could name six post-rock albums in this list, but this is a good example of a genre that’s getting huge but that is still totally under the radar of most media. Go and see them live!
