10. Sun RaNight of the Purple Moon

I recently read John Szwed’s great biography of Sun Ra, and started taking lessons from one of Sun Ra’s drummers from the 80’s, Marvin Bugalu Smith… This particular record is pretty odd because he uses an electric piano called a Roksichord that has a choked brittle sound and it’s also a very small group recording – usually only a quartet. This lends the recording even more alien flavor than usual.
