Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

7. Gladys Knight and the PipsThe Look Of Love

Life was a bit dull, a bit weird. I moved to Birmingham in ’74 and this was in ’75. I was staying at my dad’s, I was meant to be decorating this house but I just wasn’t. Not an amazing time. Anyway, this was on my sister’s Motown Chartbusters Volume 8 – quite a good album that one. I just kept listening to it, I couldn’t believe how good it was. It’s so full of love. It’s a Bacharach song, but for me this is the best version, just the arrangement. It takes you away really, it transports you.
