Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

7. CarpentersGold

This record and Karen Carpenter have been my comfort blanket for as long as I can remember. I’d carry this song around with me and wanted to be near everything she did, everything she sang. I’d have the tapes, pictures of her. I was quite young when I found out how she passed away and I remember looking at her pictures and thinking “that she’s a person I can really see.” I’ve always hoped that she was never in any pain.
