Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

8. Roxy MusicRoxy Music

This is one of those records that when I listen to it I wonder what people must have made of it when it first came out. I’d love to go back and see someone put it on for the first time! They all seemed like they were from different bands – like a strange collage and the music feels like that too. Eno looks like he’s come from out of space, Ferry looks like a sci-fi Elvis and Manzanera looks like a strange, hairy, glam pirate. There’s less of a gang feel but it all still totally works.
