Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

This is so infectious and it’s ambitious with the orchestration. It uses so many sucker moves and it’s quite intellectual music. It captures a lot of emotions and nuances but at the same time it’s really got the funk. It’s so clever.

It’s funny; you listen to Nick Cave’s current music and that’s where he’s at, in a sense. He’s close to those kind of guys. It’s got a groove to it but it also has a real Cinemascope feel to it. Push The Sky Away has a real Isaac Hayes feel to it. I like music where you get a massive picture in your head. My two tests for music is that it’s got to have a groove and it’s got to put pictures in your head.
