This is something I discovered in 2009, going through another really, really rough time. I listened to this non-stop. I was also listening to GusGus’s 24/7 and the self-titled Moderat album, but especially this one. I couldn’t believe I was hearing something in 2009 that turned me on in the same way these older albums did. Bernard Fevre had taken his album, which was made in the 1970s, and updated it for today. He re-did the whole thing – it’s not a reissue or a remaster. The old one was just called The Strange New World of Bernard Fevre. It’s got one of the coolest album covers too – they got everything right. Every single song is about sounds, and it’s like a Vangelis/Blade Runner experience for me. It’s an absolute masterpiece, and I hope you’re lying down when you hear it. It brought me such incredible joy during an extremely difficult time when I was discovering some very difficult truths about myself and felt like nothing was ever going to be okay again. It was the second round of what I described earlier from the 1980s.
