Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

A cover of ‘Denise’ by Randy & The Rainbows which I loved as a kid. It’s one of those where the cover is better than the original – it does happen from time to time and this is one example of it. That was a fabulous sound. Deborah Harry was and is a terrific singer and a great presence in the world. Blondie quickly got past their punk rock period which I thought was a smart move, because she had it all. Like all the best people, she transcended the milieu of which she emerged. Anybody that’s any good does that.
