He’s country but he’s almost proto-outlaw country, although that hadn’t really happened yet. He’s talking about the beautiful losers, the down-and-outers at the bar and he’s very poetic and very relatable to me. He was kind of a country guy who was cool as shit and you’d like to hang out with…I mean I love Johnny Cash, I like the outlaw country thing with Waylon Jennings and John Prine. A lot of them were speed freaks! I like a lot of country.
