For me this is total transportation. I think that if we never heard from Paul Simon ever again after this record, we would look back on it as pure art. Unfortunately he’s muddied the water somewhat since, but this has got that real UK folk thing going, but – at the same time – its kinda stained glass windows completely transferred to bohemian New York. The vocal acrobatics; its incense and candles! They were flirting with the squareness, but they navigated it.
