Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

5. Mary Margaret O’HaraMiss America

I’ve tried to stay away from people I work with, hence no Bill Callahan albums, but I do play with Mary Margaret O’Hara and when I do, it feels like I am on stage with someone on the level of Judy Garland. I’ve played with her a bunch. The last time I played with her was at this church here in New York. It was her and her brother who was playing a balloon by blowing it up and releasing the air and Margaret was singing and I was on the drums. Whenever I see or hear her play, it’s been great. And this is a great record that I’ve given to many people over the years.
