Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

12. Fleetwood MacFleetwood Mac

I love Christine McVie, she has all the best songs. I think she’s one of my favourite songwriters. ‘Over My Head’ and ‘Say You Love Me’ are my favourite Fleetwood Mac songs, apart from maybe ‘Everywhere’. Anytime I get stuck or I’m just running out of ideas I just think: ‘okay, I’m just gonna listen to ‘Over My Head’. Because it has such a simple kind of blues progression, but it helps me work.

It was one of those records my parents had around the house. My dad had a lot of great Blues records like Albert King, Muddy Waters and Howlin Wolf’, and then he had this Fleetwood Mac record for whatever reason. I mean, they are a blues band too. And it’s just another one of those albums that have been in my life just for a long time. It started as a kid and I’m still listening to it now. Everybody likes Fleetwood Mac though, of course.
