8. Kevin AyersThe Confessions Of Dr Dream And Other Stories
It’s another recent favourite, although I’m not sure I can really call it a favourite because there are so many different styles on it. A very confusing album to listen to. I came across a couple of songs on it that I find really incredible. I haven’t owned this album for a very long time, maybe a year, but I just felt like putting it on here because I remember for a while I had an obsession with trying to… trying to… I dreamed of making music that could combine something abstract with a really moving song and I did a collaborative album with a guitarist who’s also in my band, Håvard Volden, a while back, and we tried to do something that was free-improv-blues. Much later, I heard this album and, is it the last song, I wonder? ‘Two Goes Into Four’? It’s become one of my favourite songs. I just really love the more microscopic guitar work, with this melody that unfolds and ends up sounding really beautiful at the end. If he needed that entire wild and crazy album with all those sleazy blues tracks to get there, I don’t care. I am up for it. So later I started listening to the full album.
