Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

1. ParliamentMotor Booty Affair

I remember listening to ‘Aqua Boogie’ on the radio in my dad’s car… I was about seven years old and had never heard anything like it. I was sooooo excited whenever it came on the radio (strange to think it was a fairly popular radio song).

My dad bought the record to have for parties. Or maybe for me? But I would sit and stare at the artwork and giggle about the ladies’ big butts and marvel over the "pop-up" Atlantis painting that was so much like my kindergarten books.

Memorizing ‘… (Psychoalphadiscobetabioaquadoloop)’, I liked to say doodoo instead of doloop. I didn’t know what acid was or "liquid sunshine" but I knew it blew my mind and I was hooked…
