9. ChicLes Plus Grands Succès De Chic: Chic’s Greatest Hits

We were listening to reggae music and lots of funk and one album we listened to a lot was this one. We used to play this over and over again, not so much for the melodies or the songs but for the bass and drums, Nile Rodgers… the bass playing with the drums is what we aspired to. It was ‘79, ‘80, we were all listening to disco music. It was ‘cos we were surrounded by loads of prostitutes and pimps at the time and they were playing it! [Roars with laughter] Drug dealers and pimps, mate. I know the songs by ear rather than title, but it was such an important album that one.
