13. Jimmy HolidayTurning Point
It’s one of those albums where I just think, ‘how did they slip under the radar?’ I love Little Jimmy Scott and it was the same kind of thing with him. Like, how do you make records this beautiful and it not be on everybody’s list of standards? And he worked with Ray Charles too, but even with that and his blessings and contributions, it’s still something that appears to have slipped through the cracks. It’s amazing how that happens. But these are the kinds of records that are American soul music.
