Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. The Weeks SistersHelp Me Lift Jesus

This undoubtedly would have been something I picked out of a bargain bin in an American store. There’s an awful lot of them in America. Although I can’t find any information about this record or The Weeks Sisters. There’s really nothing out there about them at all. I love American gospel music. It was always music for Sundays. That’s when I would go through all the records I’ve ever got in America and at the end of a tour. I could have put any number of artists down for gospel but I just love their voices on this record. I love their pitchiness. It’s not perfect at all, it’s just performed, and it feels like that’s good enough because what they’re doing is spreading the word about this thing that they truly believe in. It almost seems like nothing can get in the way of that.
