I talk about Karen O’s influence on me in Crying In H Mart.[“Karen O made music feel more accessible, made me believe it was possible that someone like me could one day make something that meant something to other people.”] I remember a friend who had a DVD of [Yeah Yeah Yeahs’] live performance at The Fillmore, and that was definitely super influential. It’s part of why I became a musician, getting to see Karen O. We’ve played shows together and know each other now. I would be remiss to not mention this album’s huge influence on me.
