Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. MitskiPuberty 2

I’ve got to put my girl Mitski on here. I have a nostalgic bias towards this record because that was the record where she brought me on tour [in 2016]. I don’t know what you would call her breakthrough record, but I love that album. She’s obviously such a beautiful singer and amazing songwriter and a friend of mine. And watching her perform that album for five to six weeks was so inspiring. It felt like a real changing of the tides. It was her moment, and I was just happy to be along for the ride and watch her become the artist that she is.

So that record always has a special place in my heart. I love the song ‘I Bet On Losing Dogs.’ I think that’s one of her greatest. She’s written so many great songs, but I especially love that song. I find that song to be really heartbreaking.
