Koenig has these weird algorithms. He comes up with piles of numbers and feeds certain synthetic applications with them. He also makes certain filter adjustments according to a very fixed plan. He composes like a machine – this and then this. He’s really quite a master of achieving a lot with a very minute set of rules. The players really have to follow these rules almost as if they mustn’t listen to what they’re playing, but it still provides a very surprising music. It sounds like it’s totally random or improvised but when you get back to it, you realise it is extremely well prepared. It’s music that sounds like it could just emanate from somewhere, as if it wasn’t composed or produced, it’s coming from some weird hole in your wall.

I also think his music sounds amazing and it really rocks. Some people buy Jack White’s records because they think they just sound so good; I would say Gottfried Michael Koenig records sound so good.
