Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

This is, of course, one of the best pop recordings ever made. On a three-track, by all accounts. Link Wray isn’t really known for this type of material – his legacy more seems to be ‘Rumble’ and such – but this …Three Track Shack album is braw as a craw. There’s so much energy in this song and it’s so random and alive, veering in and out of time, crazy, vivid mixing… it’s the opposite of the X Factor stuff they play in the Co-op the whole time. Tell you what – they should play this in the Co-op – it’d get the grannies dancing. Sell a few more peas.
