In the 90s hip hop era there was a lot of great records, but I loved this particularly. It was a mix of sampling jazz – they were so forward thinking with what they were doing. A lot of hip hop records weren’t great albums, but now you were suddenly getting records that were defined in that way. And I think Tribe were one of the best groups of that generation, and Q-Tip was arguably one of the best rappers of that generation. And the production was just immense; the bottom end of the record was phenomenal.
