8. Neil Young – Neil Young

Again, this is an album that I can listen to a lot. It’s just got a lot of cool sounds, you know? I don’t know if he ever used fuzz except on this album. Because this one’s not so popular you don’t hear it all the time, either, and it’s not quite as stripped-down as the later stuff. It’s a bit more produced – not quite as much as some of the Buffalo Springfield songs, but definitely in that more psychedelic vein.
I don’t think people consider this album one of his top records, but I like it the most. I’m sure that’s probably part of the appeal; the record collector always likes obscure stuff… Have I ever met Neil Young? Yeah. What was he like? He was cool.
