Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

I was three when this record came out. It’s the first music I loved basically, and it’s still so goddamn good! The pure pop of it is everything, but also, with songs like ‘Man In The Mirror’, it’s got a real emotional depth to it. At the end of the day, too, I just can’t handle how beautiful his voice is. The king. It still carries emotional weight, but I listen to it more like a study of the classics. It’s still fun to listen to – I’ve just burned it out so hard. If it came out today, everyone would still be thinking, "Cancel everything!"

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Afrodeutsche, Metronomy, Ghetts, Gold Panda, Bat for Lashes
