Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

10. BjorkDebut

I heard ‘Venus As A Boy’ on the radio the other day and I couldn’t believe how good it sounded. She is a very frustrating artist unless you’re an absolute fan. I find her a bit pretentious to be honest. But Debut is a really, really good album. It completely announced her. It’s got ‘Human Behaviour’ and ‘Big Time Sensuality’ on it. I wish she’d stuck with that sound. I went to Reykjavik about three years ago and that kind of explained it. It is a really weird place. There’s an unusual culture. It’s good, but odd. A bit like Björk.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Rufus Wainwright, Pauline Black, Julianna Barwick
