5. Frank OceanBlond

I remember when Blond came out, I had a similar feeling to when a big, talked-about film comes out, like an A24 film, and you’re probably really gonna like it, but your brain delays going to the cinema to see it. I held this record off for a while, I guess also because it can be really hard to interact with things – and know where you stand on things, personally – when everybody is hyping it up so much. But then when I did, I obviously fucking loved it. It’s crazy how many different kinds of people love this album. It’s referenced by so many artists. My mum loves it!
It’s one of those records that I’ve never had a favourite song on. I’ve always sat down and listened to it from beginning to end, or if I couldn’t get all the way to the end, I’d remember where I got to and then continue from there. It’s so luscious. It’s one of those records that I have in the god tier category that is not even inspirational. When something is so unachievable, it’s just like, it’s nice that that exists, it’s nice that I get to experience that every now and then – but it’s not making me strive to do anything because I’m not capable of that. You can’t look at everything and think, ‘How can I do that? What can I take from that?’ Sometimes it’s nice to just observe.
