Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

4. SquarepusherHard Normal Daddy

I first discovered Squarepusher through one of those HMV playlist CDs. I think it was ‘Lambic 5 Poetry’ that was on this free CD and I’ve been in thrall ever since. Tracks like ‘Beep Street’ and ‘Papalon’ are my favourite tunes of all time. It’s crazy that I’ve had the chance to work with him on one of my tracks. He’s such an inspiration. The detail he gets in his drums and the emotional melodies and the complex rhythms. I’m a massive fan of jungle music and Tom [Jenkinson] was the first person I heard combining jungle elements with acid jazz, drum and bass; really interesting blends.
