Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

7. Jay Z  – The Blueprint 2: The Gift & The Curse/b>

It’s stuck with me the most – both Blueprints were amazing tunes across the board that I felt were sick. I have enjoyed every Jay-Z album minus one – I think Kingdom Come I didn’t enjoy that much. I’ve enjoyed all of them apart from that one, but it’s really Blueprint and Blueprint 2 that I feel I can put on at any time. I love East Coast because lyricism is my thing, and the best lyrics just happen to be from New York. ‘Ether’ was cool, but I really rated ‘Blueprint²’ where Jay’s talking about the war with Nas and talking about little different scenarios with friends and people choosing sides at that time. He’s kind of admitting that there was a loss, but in the end he still won because he learnt so much. That was my shit, I fucked with it.
