13. KanoHome Sweet Home
Honestly this is an album very close to heart because of my relationship with the artist, but let’s forget that for a second. Everybody’s got boxes and pockets that they’re good at, but Kano went across the board. Temporal specialising. And different tempos and genres while still remaining him. When I first heard this album, I thought there was no better body of work at the time. I know people say Boy In Da Corner an amazing piece of work, and sometimes I feel like they’re basing it on impact. I mean, they’re both sick albums – really what I’ve just done is wrong, I shouldn’t have just compared them because in their own right they’re both sick albums… But they were the only albums that we had to compare back then! I feel like Home Sweet Home is a top three body of work to come out of this country still. Like Klashnekoff, Kano has no bullshit, it’s just about the music. He’s like my brother, definitely my musical partner. We think in the same realm, we’ve just got a natural chemistry. We don’t speak everyday, or anything like that – he’s doing what he’s doing and I’m doing what I’m doing, but when we do speak, it’s still the same.
