This sounds like a dub record. And it sounds like lovers rock in that it has that seductive, sexy space. It’s a little bit Janet Kay or Susan Cadogan. She’s dressed up to the nines in the cocktail lounge, and she wants that guy on the dance floor, so it’s unrequited love. There’s longing, and the fear of the night ending. My wife says to me that when I get going, she can see the fear of closing time in my eyes. You just don’t want the day to stop once you get to a certain point, unless there’s a lock-in of course. It’s the worst thing, because when does it close? And where does all of this end?
