Axis: Bold As Love was a little funkier and by the time you got to Electric Ladyland? They sound like Curtis Mayfield! I didn’t realise this but Curtis Mayfield was one of Jimi’s favourite guitar players.

Was making people feel like they’re tripping the aim? No, that was the beginning. We were just getting there, we’d just made ‘Testify’. We didn’t have a clue! Well we had enough of a clue. Enough sense to pay attention.
