I could have picked any number of albums. Holy Wood – I thought that was great; …Grotesque – I thought that was great. I went for Mechanical Animals simply because when he was making it I was playing in Los Angeles and he came out and joined us on stage. He came from the sessions and he had a much shorter haircut and that struck a chord with me.

It’s a great album and I’m not sure why people are against it. I think it’s fantastic. I’ve seen him play every time he’s been here. I saw him at The Forum [in London], Alexandra Palace I think it was, Brixton Academy many times and maybe at Wembley.
