Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

12. Cate Le BonCrab Day

Another legend, another hero! Another totally unique individual. Cate does her own thing and she does it so well, because it’s honest. She’s not putting on any airs. I think Cate is one of the great lyricists – I mean, "Love is not love, when it’s a coat hanger"? That’s like one of my favourite lyrics of all time. And Cate’s just really cool – she’s one of my favourite people, she just cracks me up – but she’s one of the great artists too. She’s really reliable: every record has at least five songs that I wish I had written, and I can’t believe it. But I love her, and I think she’s made an incredible record… Even if she didn’t use the pictures that I took for the cover. But I forgive you, Cate.
