Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

1.

Dead Can Dance ā€“ Into The Labyrinth Back in ā€™95 I was shown this album by the girlfriend of Waldermar Sorychta, the guitar player of Grip Inc. It was great because Iā€™m really into world music and being Cuban I have a love for African percussion and a lot of different rhythms and patterns, and even middle eastern music, so this really tapped into that for me. Iā€™m really open to any style that incorporates percussion and Lisa Gerrardā€™s voice is just amazing, sheā€™s an amazing artist. I donā€™t know exactly the story behind this one but what I do know is that itā€™s a great record! Iā€™ve since bought every single record; at least I think I have every single one of theirs.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Lord Spikeheart, Tom Ravenscroft
