Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

1.

Dead Can Dance – Into The Labyrinth Back in ’95 I was shown this album by the girlfriend of Waldermar Sorychta, the guitar player of Grip Inc. It was great because I’m really into world music and being Cuban I have a love for African percussion and a lot of different rhythms and patterns, and even middle eastern music, so this really tapped into that for me. I’m really open to any style that incorporates percussion and Lisa Gerrard’s voice is just amazing, she’s an amazing artist. I don’t know exactly the story behind this one but what I do know is that it’s a great record! I’ve since bought every single record; at least I think I have every single one of theirs.

Selected in other Baker’s Dozens: Lord Spikeheart, Tom Ravenscroft
