Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

10. MomusTimelord

Momus is criminally underrated. I was in a Music Video Exchange and they had a reduced section downstairs. I loved going through the £1 bin. I found this Momus album on CD, no sleeve, just a promo. I thought it sounded like heartbreak.

He had a blog called God Opera, where he’d write something almost every day. He talked about what Timelord was about, and this heartbreak I’d got from it was actually happening – his fiancé had essentially been kidnapped by her family and taken back to somewhere in Asia, so it was about his longing for her; how they were going to be together again. I found it really inspirational that the music could talk for itself.
