Baker's Dozen

Artists discuss the 13 records that shaped their lives

11. DMXFlesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood

DMX was like a ruffian bruv, nah man, his voice, them tunes there… and he used to do the dog noises [imitates DMX] that used to just go ham. I used to think he sounds like he’s one of the best, and that album there is just straight bangers. DMX has definitely made his mark on planet earth. And I think maybe personally he’s had some issues that’s kind of pulled him to the right or whatever but in his prime he was a problem. He was a problem. That album there is undeniable. He had tunes with Aaliyah and then he had tunes with the top dons as well. He wasn’t just for the mandem, he wasn’t just greazy. He could do a tune with a girl and still make that sound cool. He was hard man, he was hard.
